This substantial 9K gold cased pocket half hunter by Waltham USA watch company in in fine condition, A English retailed pocket watch with USA movement. . It is in very good condition, is working well and dates from around 1926. The gold case is in very good condition i would say like mint, rearly found in this condition. The case measures mm in diameter and mm deep to back to front . The covers are highly polished and marked internally with the maker’s mark english hallmark and 9ct gold.The case is all solid gold, glass is clear and unmarked The White enamel dial is very clean with no chips, cracks or hairlines. There is a sub seconds dial arabic numbers,movement is very clean and working well. The dial is signed Waltham .
This a A L Dennison watch. Aaron Lufkin Dennison, born in Freeport, Me, USA, in 1812, was the first to manufacture watches by machinery building his business on a system of interchangeable parts. Dennison built a factory at Roxbury, Mass. in 1853, later moving to Waltham, near Boston. Meanwhile he moved to England where he commenced the manufacture of watch cases with premises in Handsworth, Birmingham. The business was known as Dennison, Wigley & Co. He died in 1895 and the business was continued under the same style until 1905. Franklin Dennison cointinued the business as The Dennison Watch Case Co and in 1919 the business was converted into a limited liability company.
