Much sought after vintage J.W.Benson Large, solid 9ct gold military style half hunter wrist watch with sprung loaded cover. Manufactured by the Swiss company, "Cyma" Tavannes and retailed by the reputable London watchmaker's "J.W. Benson" (originally watchmaker to Queen Victoria). Dating from 1928., snap on inner bezel and hinged back. Cover springs opens by depressing the button on the edge of case - between the lugs at the 6 o'clock position. Cover has a small glazed window in it's centre where the dial and hands can be viewed without having to open the cover. Around this window are dark blue numerals and minute chapter. Inside the back is stamped with a British 9ct gold import hallmark corresponding to the year 1928, and signed with the maker's initials, "JWB" (J.W. Benson). Gold wire lugs. Fitted with acrylic UB crystals. Case width (not including crown or button) : 35mm. Case condition : 85%. White enamel military style dial with subsidiary seconds. Blued steel 'skeleton' hands. Dial signed, "Benson - London". Dial condition : 99% (very faint hairline). Nice quality, nickel plated, 12 ligne, 15 jewel movement. Unsigned, but positively identified as being manufactured by Cyma (calibre 216). Geneva stripe decoration. Chaton set jewels. Adjusted. Breguet over-coil hairspring. Bimetallic compensation balance wheel. Movement condition: Recently serviced. Time keeping : good. Comes with a period jeweller's box. The watch is in working order.
